Kathleen Kennedy brings extensive experience leading organizations at the intersection of academia, media, and technology. She excels at aligning strategic vision with practical execution to deliver meaningful results. Her current pursuits revolve around AI education, digital transformation, and strategic organizational design in an AI driven world.
As President of the MIT Enterprise Forum, Kathleen led a global network supporting technology entrepreneurs and strengthening membership engagement. As Director of Special Projects at MIT, she helped launch The Engine, a venture fund for tough tech startups, and served on the board of Hubweek, a citywide festival in collaboration with Harvard, Mass General Hospital, and The Boston Globe.
At MIT Technology Review, she held multiple leadership roles, including President and Chief Strategy Officer. Under her guidance, the magazine transformed into a global media brand, expanding its reach across five continents and driving sustained revenue growth through new product development, custom content, global conferences, and strategic partnerships. While she was president, she led the launch team for Solve, a social innovation marketplace connecting entrepreneurs with funders to address global challenges.
Currently, Kathleen holds two leadership roles at MIT. As Executive Director of the Center for Collective Intelligence, she works with a multidisciplinary research group to advance Supermind Design, an innovative method for organizing people and technology. At Open Learning, she serves as Senior Director of Horizon, leading a team that develops learning experiences on AI and emerging technologies.
An active member of the innovation community, Kathleen frequently speaks at global conferences, mentors founders through MIT DesignX and Good Growth Capital, and serves on selection committees for organizations such as the Eisenhower Fellowships and the MacArthur Foundation’s 100&Change. Her work has earned widespread recognition, including being named to the Folio: 40 list of industry leaders and one of Boston’s Most Influential Women by the Women of the Harvard Club.
